This workshop will introduce the basics of collagraph printing on paper, using distinct textures and mark-making on sintra plates. We will focus on gaining a sense of image building through texture and line in order to create a series of prints. Participants should come with a collection of texture and mark making materials, drawings and a readiness to experiment. The goal of our workshop will be to explore and learn how to make intaglio prints with heightened textures, traditional intaglio printing and drypoint methods, with non-traditional materials.

Participants should be prepared to let go, play, and experiment. This workshop is open to beginners, lapsed artists, and artists who just want to spend a weekend in the studio with us exploring some new techniques. No prior printmaking experience is required.

Individuals with prior experience of collagraph printmaking or who are interested in taking the workshop a second time, are encouraged to enroll. Multi-plate and color printing can be an option for expansion of the process.

With hand-drawn imagery & collage techniques, participants will create a 2-layer, color prints on paper. We will focus on gaining a sense of image building through texture, line and color transparency, in order to create an edition of prints. Participants should come with a collection of image ideas, mark making materials, and a readiness to experiment. This workshop emphasizes techniques for creating posters or fine art prints. This workshop will provide a basic understanding of the screenprinting process using photo-emulsion process. Students will learn everything they need to know to screenprinting in their own home/studio. We will learn step by step in stencil preparation, paper-printing options and color techniques.
